Arp Avatar- anyone ever get one function as intended?

 LOL- jeeze, it seems everywhere I go I keep running into the Juno 106. I have one(who dosen't it seems)... but mine is suffering from the dreaded 80017A chip burnout... works on poly 1 just fine, but poly1+poly 2 every sixth note is dead. Kinda thins out the sound to be forced to use it that way... not that mine sees much action these days.
Unless I'm mistaken it sounds like yours were replaced with those goop modules... isn't  the 80017A chip the vcf/vca normally found in there?
I never opened mine up, so I might be confused, but I have heard that there are ways to replace the 80017A with something more reliable... but you may be talking about a whole different series of 6 'chips' entirely...



yeah, I'm aware that I can spend an enormous amount of money and get a 'new' chip, I just can't really justify that at this point for something that... collects dust for now.
