Hey Everybody,

I was just out doing my weekly thrift store browse, and I ran across a set of PC driving pedals. I checked the motion of the pedal, and figured there had to be pots in there, so I picked them up. Pulled them apart when I got back and sure enough there is 2 250k pots inside (there are 2 pedals). I haven't checked with a Vohm Meter yet to see how much of the pots travel they are using, but from watching the gears move it looks like they use quite a bit, if not all. They are also built into a very stout case, so I'm thinking of just building a pedal right into it (Idiot Wah or Kechi Wah maybe). For now I'm going to wire the pots up to a jack and use it to modulate my PWM.

Happy Hunting!

Vohm'd it and found that it would stop at about 50k. I noticed the pedals have slats of plastic on the back that control how far down they go, so I trimmed some material off, and now I have full play from around 220k to 50ohms (wasn't worried about that last little bit  :) ).

Don't know the prices on those but the Bespeco Volume pedal (mono or stereo), only cost $35 max. The mono one is around $30 out the door here.

PC driving pedals?

I've never heard of those...what are they?

Jamforthelamb

It's a driving game control for computers. It's basically a gas and brake pedal that you plug into your computer.

that's kinda cool...just rip out the guts and drill some new holes, eh?  :icon_cool:

Salty Beans: Exactly. In fact there are no guts, just a couple pots and a cable.

Aron: Yeah, I thought about going that route, until I found this at a thrift store for 3.00  :icon_mrgreen:
