Hey folks,

I did an order to get the parts for a tycho clone. They sent me 50k Audio instead of 500k Audio. I'm sending 'em back, but I was just curious, what would be the difference in sound using the 50k in place of the 500k? I built pleanty of fuzzfaces with a 100k and not a 500k, but I'm still foggy on the math behind it.

thanks,

matt

just a bump. Mark H., are you around?

Never tried it/I think it'd work just fine.
because my Tycho has plenty of output, I wonder why they put such a large pot on there for dividing the output, I use settings around <9:00...maybe to tame some of the high end hashiness with a big series resistance @ 'normal?' settings...9:00 is a substantial boost, that leaves 9 to 5!
If yours has the same potential output as mine does, I'd put the 50k in there, then if I wanted less highs, use a LP filtercap, so the rollof isn't altered w/volume control change.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Thanks a lot Pete. I wouldn't even have asked, but I remember someone having a similar scenario in a post. I was very surprized to learn how little difference a 50k would make. Is the difference in the highs substancial, or is it one of those things you'd kind of have to listen for, in unscientific terms? Is there any bass cut, or only more highs let out?

would that rolloff cap be on lugs 3 and 2?

thanks,

matt
