From a stompbox point of view, the Spin Semiconductor would be the chip to use for this. Create a modulated reverb, plus a pitch shifter set to an octave up, and run the output of the reverb through the pitch shifter and back into the reverb input.

The big issue is how you keep things from blowing up. Integrating the reverb and pitch shifter together is probably the best solution. In addition, the default pitch shifting in the FV-1 gets pretty metallic at +12 semitones, so you will want to do something to reduce the coloration of the algorithm.

I've done far too much thinking about this lately - not from a pedal standpoint.

I haven't built anything with the FV-1 - just programmed code on the dev board. I know there are a few schematics for pedals that could implement the hardware part of the reverb.

The particular algorithms implemented in the plugin wouldn't run on the FV-1. Too many modulated delay lines, and the pitch shifter would be difficult to emulate. However, the basic concept (reverb into pitch shifter, output of pitch shifter back into reverb) would work on the FV-1 just fine.

Look up the Strymon Blue Sky Reverb. Its an absolute piece of art.

its pricey, but it does this effect. As does the IPS-33B Harmonizer/Pitch Shifter. Its a built in patch. the line6 verbzilla does it as well. as does the empress super delay

It has somethign to do with octaving the repeats within the reverb tank. I think the Strymon site has something on the website about how they do it.

he uses two amps with different delay settings. like triplets and quarter notes. but he does have a rig as big as dream theatre and he said he uses a totally different setup on each part of each song. lats a lot of DIY
