...just an FYI...i have recently acquired the Sams "Transistor Substitution Handbook" from 1966  ...though i dont have the means to scan it yet, if you have any transistors you cant find info/subs for, i'd be happy to check the book...i've found several that i was previously having problems getting info on....

ac-128's are still fairly available....nkt-275's are a bit harder to find...

but...any pnp germs such as ac188, oc76, nte158, etc will be fine... www.smallbearelec.com has reasonably priced *tested* subs that will sound great....

also, if you search "ac-128" on this forum you'll find lots of other subs....

Substitution for...

ASY27
ASY25

thanks!

ASY25 isnt in the book...but....

ASY27....pnp germanium, C-B-E with emmiter by the "tab"...suggested subs are 2N396A, 2N404A, 2N414, 2SA399, and ASY29...

those were the suggested subs in 1967...you "should" be able to find the 2N404A's and the 2N396A's fairly easily, as they were quite common....

hope this helps,

The 1974 "International transistor selector guide" has a differant take:

ac128 =2N2706 as the american equiv

nkt 275=2N406 as the american equiv ( hmm...Horn(s)by  booster  tranny)

asy 27=2N1305 as the american equiv

asy 25 doesn't exist

..we should talk to Aron about making this thread, or one like it, a "sticky"...basically a transistor substitution thread...that way when someone needs info, it'll be easier to find....

just a thought...

Not so much substitutuion but I have these and need to know what they are (PNP or NPN etc)

This is what they are marked:

590  201

2n526

2n2219A

40396p

Thanks for your time. I appreciate it.
