I went to some yard sales this morning ( which me and the daughter do almost every sat. morning) And I was on the hunt for power supplies and general material for upcoming projects... I found a set of baby monitors from Safety 1st that are negitive pole 9v dc 200mA( 2 of them!)... I am not sure of the jack size but I am guessing they will work... Plus there are alot of other useful parts   :icon_lol:... For a buck!!! I figure that these should work...? Anyone try these?  8)

I should add these are "SAFETY 1ST RECHARGEABLE SUPER CLEAR MONITOR #49241" for those looking..
Also found that the supplu is a HA35U-0902  .. UL listing e159960

They need to be regulated to work well with pedals etc.

I think they will work fine.  I recently scavenged our old baby monitor.  I had to clip the wire and flip them around so it was center positive but it works fine with my pedals.  I haven't had any problems.  You can use the reciver part to to make a ruby.  Most of the stuff is in there. Our's had a jrc386 in there.

Regulation isn't too hard, anyhoo. If you have a 220uF electrolytic cap, it can work fine when put across the + and ground to filter it. Of course, you can also put in a 7809 and another filter after it if you're feeling the terrible need. Both have worked great for me.

Another great source is thrift stores  ;)

I've got a ton of wall warts from various appliances. The appliances
have long since died. Some of the Warts have too. Opening them up,
I find that a lot of them have multi secondary transformers. So even
if the original design was for a 3v supply, it's easy enough to find
6-9-12 etc volts. Obviously, make sure the caps are big enough.
