I have a couple of LED displays i ripped from a zoom. they are part# 5241BH-D4. from what little i can decipher from the only datasheet i could find, all i've learned is that it is a red led display. DUH! i can't find a pinout and though someone suggested clipping some leads from a 9v with a 10k resistor on + to test the connections and determine a pinout, i don't think that would work as you would need to find the - terminal(s) on the display. i'm thinking about using this for a couple of custom indicators (specifically an a/b/c/y box to let you know which path you are in). any way anyone knows to check the pinout? and also anyone ever wired one? i was thinking it may work (once i know the pinout) if i wired something similar to a millenium bp led circuit to each path and wire all the appropriate leads to indicate the right letter bunched together on the led + position on the circuit. thoughts?

also, i learned this is a common anode display.

Look on the sides of the unit for some kind of part number designation, then Google that part number.  Should take care of that problem.  At least, that's how I deciphered the pinout on a couple of common-cathode LED digits I have.  :icon_mrgreen:

andre: that info was already on the data sheet, makes no sense to me :)

david: i already did that, that was how i found the crap datasheet tat tells me nothing.

any other ideas?

David

Sorry, man.  It worked for me.

Andre

Sorry, I overlooked the fact that you already found the "datasheet".  :icon_redface:

Maybe you could search for other brands of LED displays.
They may have displays with similar pinout as the ones you have.

It's actually a pretty good datasheet.  You just have to let the Chinese font install first.  Look near the bottom of page 2.  Your pinout is there.
