hey all...
i'm building guitar effects for a while now and i am always reading the forum but only decided to register now as i hit a problem with building a big muff distortion.
it seems from some reason that my big muff (GGG layout) sounds modern or at least similar to the newer big muff reissues available on the market today (used 2n5088 transistors). however i would like to build a unit that sounds more like the old green metal enclosure Russian big muffs and i am wondering what exactly sets these apart? if these are specific parts you can pin out please let me know or direct me to a source with the info as i was not able to find any firm material regarding this in the forum (could be that i am not searching well enough). thanks all for the help!
Yes, please.

Dont quote me on this, but I think I heard people talking about the Triangle Version Big Muff being the Green Sovtek one.

I think the problem with BMPs is that they (EH) used so many different transistors, that it's hard to nail down the right transistors for any given version.  I have a green one that I dislike, simply because the traces lift if you show it a picture of a soldering iron.

but yet they tend to sound more similar to each other than to other issues.
Yes, please.
