hi again, ive just built tim escobedos utility boost and im well impressed, thing is is there anything to make the drive a little smoother, and less fuzzy, instead of the transistor in the circuit, could i use a jrc 4558 chip,(got loads of them) if so, how would i go about wiring it in?like i say im a newbie and still learning as much as i can, cheers again

Nope, the Utility Boost is based around a transistor (either a BJT or a JFET), your JRC4558s are dual opams, an entirely different thing.  If you don't like the fuzzyness you could try chaning the values of some caps to take away a bit of the high end for a smoother sound (I think you could put a small capacitor across the 2 outer terminals of the volume pot)

It's had three new handles and two new heads...

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
