About labeling on pots... which is which?
Every time I think I've figured it out, I become confused again.

Do different manufacturers label their pots differently? (B 100K ...etc)
If so could you test with a multimeter to figure out if its linear or logarithmic?

Thanks and sorry about such a stupid question :icon_mrgreen:

Remember A for Audio, hence logarithmic increase of resistance
B is linear
C is reversed taper

this is in the faq for sure..

Read "The secret life of pots" at Geofex - it will tell you all sorts of stuff about pots, including how to measure a pot a you have now to tell what the taper is.

sent from my orbital space station.

R.G.'s article is very interesting indeed.
Lot of info to be found at GEO for sure!

YES: different manufacturers in different parts of the world
DO label their pots differently...

What`s "A" for the ones, is "B" for the others!

"C" is reverse-logarithmic for all.

Oh yes, forgot that: put it in the center and measure the resistance between 1 and 2 and then between 2 and 3, if the results are noticeably different, its logrithmic, if it's a about the same, then linear.
