I need a 100% badass, crunch-creating, power-mongering, fear-inducing, dark, black, rich, coffee, did I say krunchy, heavy-as-hell distortion circuit.  crunch.  metal.  hard.  heavy.  Lack of compression is a MUST.  Think Master of Puppets, NOT the black album

 LOL! Yeah, the BMP is called a fuzz too...
But! I built one of those(BeeBaa, actually the BaaBaa on GGG) and it's pure evil. It has a rather ordinary clean boost mode, and a distortion mode with a midrange notch switch. I don't paticularly care for the mid scoop sound(think spandex and hairspray), but the distortion is a rich, thick, tight, throaty, iron clad, balls out palm mute psycho sabbath ROAR!!!!! that will mop the floor with a Big Muff... at least mine is... It does NOT compress very much as it distorts, so it really is a palm mute monster!
So- I would put it FIRMLY in the category of distortion!
All of this is of course provided you use it for guitar(OH! And it likes humbuckers more than single coil!). It's not something well suited for bass... and I didn't want to mod mine. It sounds too good on guitar.
