Neovibe soundclips....

Here are a couple of quickie soundclips of my Neovibe & other stuff. There were recorded with a typical crappy PC mic directly into my PC. Even thought the volume level of the amps was relatively low, I had a hard time setting the level of the mic. Any crackly distortion is because of the mic, not what was going on in the real world. The volume is relatively low, & you can actually hear the clicking of the pedal switches, & pickup selector. Also, lots of buzz from the SC pickups being next to the PC monitor.

The first clip is the Neovibe going into a FD2 with the drive at 9 o'clock, then into a DL4 delay, & into a '70 Princeton Reverb with a 12" speaker, volume on 2. I kick in a Kama Sutra fuzz almost halfway into it. The guitar is a mongrel Strat I put together from various parts.

The second clip is similar, but I also used a Geofex Screamer in conjunction with the FD2. I recently modded the Screamer using the Grandlaff layout. I have it in the LED mode with the drive about 3 o'clock. Same settings on the vibe & FD2. Once again, I kick in the fuzz somehere in the middle.

No EQ, or anything, & the sound is a bit dark, but.....

Holy Crap ! I love this pedal I must build it!! Playing like that is another story. I wish you were the lead guitarist in my band instead of me! I'd play rythmn for you any time! Have you listened to any Jimi Hendrix? ;D

For sure, the neovibe is the proper gear. I love the sound of mine, but I play it with a clean sound.

Sounds great!  (And it's good to know mine sounds how it should too!  Now I just need to get the sweep in the rocker under control. )

Really nice playing, too!

Thanks for the kind words, I was wanking a bit, but I guess the tone was okay with the way it was recorded.

Powerplayj, what is different about yours?

I just can't seem to smooth out the Vibe onset and release.  It's a bit too much of a heartbeat (throb) and not a smooth warble.  I'l save it for a rainy day I guess,

That link lead went somewhere else for me, would be cool but I'm not shopping for homes apts or shoes at 'SB'...

Try it now. My domain server took it upon themselves to decide that my domain name had expired. >:( Anyway, after a few emails, it was determined that they screwed up.

Me neither and me too!
Mark, I thinks it's time you and I champion the movement for more vibe in Country.

Thanks! It's a Seymour Duncan King Tone or something like that. It was already in the amp when I got it. Sorta' similar to a G12H but without as much brightness.

Rock on! They're great......the kama sutra is a variation on the boutique fuzz yeah?
Is there a schematic around? I searched before and could only find reference to it. I found that the difference is 4.7m resistors instead of 1m and a .01 instead of an .1 output capacitor.
Are these the only changes? Thanks

Steve,

That really sounds fantastic, you nailed that Hendrix sound.
What design did you use , RG 's ? Don't know if there are any others around.
This will be my next project. What about the signal to noise level , is it  low noise ?
I'm asking because I have a H&K Rotosphere and that is a great sounding machine but rather noisy straight into an amp input.
I just printed the pcb, any additional mods you did ?

Thanks , Alf

Thanks! I just compared the schematic to the boutique fuzz on GGG, & it's identical. Mike Burgundy had drawn up the schematic & PC board in the early days before GGG. I had some transistors in there that really weren't "correct", & I just got some from Small Bear, & to me, it sounds way better now. If you like fuzz, build it!
