I've been sourcing the parts for months now and reading every post I can find.
Finally started work on it.

My first comment is on the instructions - R.G. the update is useful but the schematic and layout has suffered in quality.  They are so pixulated now that it is very difficult to read the resistor numbers. I'm just going on faith that they are in sequence.

I managed to get a film canister but the instructions just aren't clear enough. Why doesn't this get aluminum on the inside like the other? So I'll probably just get some copper and make the box.

Bought the transformer but have no idea yet how to wire it up. Think I'd rather find a 16v wall wart than deal with an AC plug. Two batteries won't work?

Apparently when the PDF is inserted into the Word document, it resizes and does a bad job of converting. Try this - http://geofex.com/FX_images/vibeschm.pdf.

Is the problem with the making of the canister box itself or why the canister doesn't get aluminum inside?

If you can show me your points of confusion, I'll be happy to talk you through them. Lots of folks have built this from those instructions over the years, but there is almost nothing that gets written down that could not be clearer.

The film canister doesn't get aluminum inside because I found it worked fine without it on my first prototype. However, when I first wrote this up back in the mid 90's, there was a raucous chorus of people yelling that it wasn't "original", and I figured out how to make a little metal hut with shiny insides to silence the originality hecklers. They both work when done per the instructions. I have built both kinds.

I highly recommend a 16Vac wall wart instead of running AC inside the box. In fact, the parts list specifies a wall transformer, not an internal AC transformer like the original had. The "originality crowd" yelled about that too. But it's just simpler and easier to use a wall wart.

Two batteries will work - for a little while. This thing will eat batteries quickly. It's up to you.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks R.G.

I'm just going to make the copper box, film canisters are going to only get rarer so there's no need to clarify those instructions.
I see your point about the batteries.

Thanks for making this avalible. Can't wait to campare it to the Phase 90.

This is still in progress, I've been side-tracked by other projects.
But I'm thinking now about putting this in a rack unit and making a studio effect.
I've made a perfboard layout that contains the 1st input buffer and the stereo mix. Has anyone tried the stereo "Duo-Vibe" mod yet?
I was going to add a balanced line-in based on the jensen schematic http://www.jensentransformers.com/as/as092.pdf and also use it as a "reamp" for other pedals.
Here's the box http://www.tekoenclosures.com/enclosures/19.htm
Anyone buy from Teko before?
