hookup wire

hey guys.  what gauge wire would i use if i drilled my holes with a 1/32" bit?  I bought 20 gauge thinking it would be able to fit, but it was just a bit too big.

I've heard that this wire is the best to use -using cheaper wire can cause problems like the insulator melting. I'm still using some cheap wire and the insulation is not good. I'll be buying from Steve at SmallBear when I need to re-stock.
