A suggestion for a 9V power supply

While I was waiting for some power jacks to complete the Spyder power supply I built a while ago, I realised I also needed a separate 9V power supply to take with me when I was using only one guitar effect and didn't have any battery for it. Or just because the battery of a pedal suddendly decided to quit on me and that I didn't have any battery left.

So I used the same layout than for the Spyder and built one, but used only one regulator circuit.

Like this:

I used a bigger capacitor before the regulator, but was able to use the same traces. I also added a LED to the circuit.

I just bought a cheap 9V DC/150ma walwart, cut the wire, and added the regulator board to it. Btw, if the polarity of the plug is not originally correct, you just swap the 2 wires on the plug side to have the (+) and (-) at the right place. Easy, cheap and fast. All it needs right now is a plastic box to house it.

I found some cheap walwarts that were cheaper than what I paid for only a cable assembly with a power jack already installed for the Spyder. The walwarts were $1.50 CAN, so I bought the 7 they had, just in case I needed more later... The wire guage is a little smaller, but you can't beat the price.

I built that 9V power supply a while ago, but I had a few questions lately from a couple of guys about the spyder circuit, so I thought it would be the right time to post this.

Here is about the Spyder details:
