Were did you got the soundclips of the Vibin' Champ?
I would recommend a Ibanez Sonic Distorion, one of the most clear distiorions Ive heard greta for playing chords, not much gain but great anyway.
Cheers

Doug,
From searching - is the @yahoo e-mail still good to request a schemo for the Highway 89?

Any layouts floating around?

Thanks

I must start building something first just to see if it fits my needs ;D

....My ideal OD tone is the solo on "got to get you into my life" by Earth, Wind 6 fire. Sounds a lot like a 335 through a twin reverb plus something in the middle (orange squeezer?). Fat, smooth, lots of sustain, singing tone....

A Rat, maybe? with a Wah-Wah?

OK, out of that list...

Just finished building the H89, worked at first try.

Nice sounding OD. Very good for single note soloing, it is voiced kind of dark though (I use mainly humbuckers). With chords it sounds a little mushy and "boxy" for my tastes. However, it makes exactly what his creator says. Thick, fat blues tone. I guess I need something a little more open sounding.

I'll take it to my rehersal today and see how it sounds in a band context, with my guitar.

I may experiment a little bit with the output caps.
