Playing Guitar through old Casio Keyboard?

Is there a way to rig up an old Casio/Yamaha 1980's electronic keyboard so that I can play my guitar through it and use it like a guitar synth?

why not? don't be so dismissive!

just put a midi pickup on your guitar, they aren't that expensive and you can mount them easily anywhere. plug it straight into the midi on your keyboard and you are good to go?

Or if it's an analogue synth, you can probably hack it so you can use the filters and envelope generators.

There are dozens of different Yamaha keyboards, and hundreds of Casio from this era.

There are really two different questions:
1. Can my guitar control a keyboard? for which the answer is, yes, if you have a MIDI pickup in the guitar & the keyboard accepts midi.

2.Can I take the audio signal coming from my guitar and use the keyboard as an effect? for which the answer is, yes, but only if you have an analog synth (not a digital keyboard) and then, only if you have an external audio input. From memory, maybe some of the Yamaha CS series did this. But all the Casio range were various forms of digital synthesis & won't play happily with external audio sources.

Of course, you can always use the keyboard output as a carrier for a ring modulator; it might be fun if you had a MIDI organ foot keyboard to do this with!
