Hi guys! Long story short - restoring a inductorless wah, need a new potentiometer...:)
smallbear has some, but i don't knoow if i can fit them in a dunlop-style caseing.
anyone saw those/know where such exist?
thanks!

And if so, how about a 25k wah pot for my Maestro Wah?

All you really need is the pinion gear, then you can use any value pot you want. And, even better, Smallbear has 'em. Even more good news- they're $1.75!

You could try bridging the outer two lugs with a resistor.

  Get a 25k or 20k pot.
And a DMM Set on R Range for <20k.
  Get a 20k pot w/clipwires on it.
and another 20k pot with the clipwires on it.
Attach DMM to wiper and outside lugs, twist the 20k pots you've put across the 25k pot...[one from wiper to outside lug, other from wiper to outside lug]...twist away my friend !!!
Instead of the DMM you can use your wah circuit to see what kinda tapers you can get out of it...and try to decide on one...lol
Instead of the 2 x 20k trimpots, you can use resistors to taper the 25k different ways.
If you have the 'finder of value to use fixed resistor' trimpots, you can measure the values you've chosen and fix them with fixed value resistors of about the measured value...put them where the trimpots were.
..Hard to say what kind of taper you had on the other pot, you can 'chart it'...somewhat...using DMM, a knob to indicate pot setting and paper/pen to draw the knob settings and values you read at them...long charty business...but seeing first if you can find a taper to it at one end for instance....might make it easier to mimic it...whether that's what's 'best' ...might have too much sweep with a 25k, who knows...unless you try it.
The function of the pots in these wahs is interactive with the other interactive parts...Reading up on some wah mod pages is a good idea.

wow interesting trick, knew about changing the value, but like this you can control the taper too, right?
still don't quite understand how the 3 pots are hooked up, though. "twist the 20k pots you've put across the 25k pot...[one from wiper to outside lug, other from wiper to outside lug]." is not so clear to me. lots a lugs and pots flying around there...  ;)

be warned, the 24mm alpha pots don't have enough thread to catch the piece that holds it in the wah shell.  Its too thick.  The CTS  pots with the 3/8" diameter threaded part are the way to go.  Probably rated for more cycles than the cheaper alphas.

I use Dunlop Hot Potz II wah pots with a resistor wired in parallel to get me whatever value I want. It's been working pretty well for me so far...

FWIW, I went crazy trying to find a 25k pot for my Maestro. After a bunch of trial and error, the best sound came from a 200k Pro Pot.

I originally bought an Allen Bradley 25k pot which literally lasted all of 4 days before it stopped working.  Then I got the story from a ton of people telling me AB pots aren't what they used to be.
