Sovteks 12AX7s aren't all bad, the LPS ones in particular are pretty clean. I use them in the gain/drive stages and in the utility positions (efx send/return). Another new production to look into is the Tung Sol re-issue. I have those in the gain/drive stages of my Road King. For 1st position/voicing tubes, I use primarily NOS tubes, JAN Phillips 12AX7s or Brimar CV4004.

for NOS el34s i recommend Siemens el34s, standard issue in JCM 800s.  Our guitarist has some and they got BALLS!!  Prices aren't ridiculous either for NOS.  For current production, i would go with JJ or Svetlana

Well Im still confused ???
JJ seem to be good but Marty got good results with the EH and those are cheaper, so maybe Ill go for the EH, its my first tube project so I dont want to invest much money on it as I m a beginner and maybe the thing wont work,Lukely maneco who lives in my city and is much more expirenced than me is has helped me with the power supply, which wont cost much more than US$10 so if if buy expensive tubes the costs raises too much.s

Another question the preamps I have in mind are:

1-Mesa Boogie Mark I
2-Matchless DC30
3-Matchless Hotbox
Which one would you built the three of them use 2 12ax7 If you know any other that sounds good tell me
Cheers

Remember that the original Svetlana's now go under the SED (Winged C) name.
