i just bought this for 15 bucks:

it's okay, but everything has to be maxed to get a decent envelope. i was wondering if you guys think i should keep it, mod it (and how), or salvage it for parts. the enclosure alone makes it worth the 15 bucks especially if i ever learn to do electronic switching. what do you guys think, and how do you think i could mod this to be more useable?

increase c13 to .01 or even .1 (if you want to use it with bass
also pay attention to c8, since this is the capacitor that determines center frequency of the filter.

yeah i have one of those too, or i think it is... little bit different housing and style knobs.  on bass there is a huge volume drop... so much so i can barely use it.  What gives?  Will changing that cap help?

yeah this pedal has potential, but it seems to have trouble tracking the bass frequencies (even the low "e" on my guitar sometimes!)  i assume changing the center frequency cap will do the trick. i actually judged it a bit harshly before (one should always check the BATTERY before judging an effect :)) it's not a bad envelope filter. i am, however, trying to figure out how to get increased sensitivity but a wider frequency spectrum.

what i mean is, i want it sensitive enough to kick in with little effort, but when it kicks in i want it to only sweep a little unless i really hit it. does that make sense?

yeah, i'm not sure.  I'm just going to have to experiment a little.  If not, it's going to go up on ebay with my behringer limiter and DOD tape delay or whatever it is.  that thing is super quiet too.

Difficult to do both.  Might be worth running a compressor before it.

If you want more sensitivity you need more gain in the amp used for the envelope follower.  Decrease R32 (the 4k7) and increase C14 accordingly
