Okay, this is up on the Gear Page & HC... Just incase you missed it... Yeah... I'm being geeky...

Here's a clip of a totally stock Dunlop (brand new) Fuzz Face...
http://aronnelson.com/gallery/album97/FuzzFaceRed_EJ

Tell me that doesn't sound good...
Played through a '68 Marshall Plexi with matching 4x12 (green backs). Fender '57 reissue Strat... Effects are all post.
I guess it helps when you can play your guitar too... Flaco is a great player!

Tech Notes:
FuzzFaceRed_EJ
•   Red Fuzz Face (new Dunlop)
•   50-watt JTM 50 Marshall Head (w/ NOS Mullard Tubes)
•   4x12 Vintage Slant Marshall Cab with original 25-watt greeenbacks
•   Miked with 2 old Unidyne III Shure Bros SM-57s run into two Neve 1073 repro channel strips.
•   Drums courtesy of Spectrasonics Stylus RMX using all available expansion libraries.
•   Bass run direct into an Avalon 737sp.
•   EP-3 Echoplex and Roland SRV2000 used via Altiverb 5 convolution reverb plugin. (Custom made convolutions of the signal path from EJ's Ah Via Musicom-era mixing board path.)

I've also added some clips of a bunch of vintage and custom Fuzz Face clips here... I'll be adding about 10 more clips as soon as I have the matching Fuzz Face pic...
http://aronnelson.com/gallery/album97

Tech Notes:
•   FLACO +
•   1969 Sunburst Stratocaster – STOCK... not a reissue
•   Into Fuzz Face (all FF used the same battery and cables... Only thing that changed for each clip was the Fuzz Face)
•   1969 100-watt Super Tremelo Marshall Head (w/ NOS Mullard Tubes)
•   4x12 Vintage Slant Marshall Cab with original 25-watt greeenbacks
•   Miked with 2 old Unidyne III Shure Bros SM-57s run into two Neve 1073 repro channel strips.
•   Bone Dry...noeffects

I haven't been able to hear about 1/2 of the soundclips lately...I get error alot, and this time, but forget how to fix it.
Thanks for sharing...but I wonder how those sound too !!!
I did manage to take a picture of my amp today, load it in the computer, then to Photobucket and paste the URL in another thread !!!

Hi
That sounds great.
Any chance of another clip with a lot less notes?
Do you think the FF suits the old amp with old valves?
What differences would there be with a new amp (e.g. a JTM45 clone with higher gain modern tubes and modern brighter speakers)?.
cheers

Thanks for posting the clips!! What position pickup were used in the grey and light blue FF's samples? Those are my faves, I think. Also it would be cool to hear a note ring out more, especially with a bend and slow vibrato.... kinda herky jerky in the playing style to get a good feel for 'em really. Thanks again.

It does sound good, but there's many thousands of dollars between the FF output and the
mp3  !!  a pair of neve 1073's  !   :icon_mrgreen:

Marty, you are right.
The mp3 conversion at low rates makes any good recording sound strange or bad or flangy, in particular the solo ones. The mp3 algorithm at low rates is not suitable in the case of a Gauss-like freq distribution, ie, a narrow bell. It works better with flat distributions. For example, if you convert Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto by David Oistrakh at 128kbps, you'll notice that the compressed file will sound 'acceptable' when the whole orchestra is playing, but in the main solo Oistrakh's stolen Stradivarius, or "Strad" (sound familiar?) will sound like a cheap chinese violin... or "Squied". :icon_mrgreen:

Anyway, I close my eyes and imagine how this impressive gear would sound in aiff or wav, or in situ.

Excellent stuff! Guitar effects are after all, audio not visual devices. Its good for people to be able to hear all the effects so they can decide what they would like to build. Way better than hearsay.
