Batteries and their compartments

Where do you people all put your batteries when it comes to building pedals?

I know a lot of people tend to squeeze them in between the switch and the side of the enclosure but are there any other ways of doing it? I like to play around with the location of my push switches and the type I use aren't really designed for pushing against things like batteries because the contacts stick out the side and tend to damage it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I usually mount them a couple of different ways but, I always center the 3PDT switch;

haha... just when I start to meagerly gain on you when it comes to the outside of a pedal, I am reminded that I have much room for improvement inside... :)

I'm like $uperpuma.

I bet I have stared at the etched finishes on the tops of these boxes for hours in awe.
Now to see the insides!. It's the same feeling of awe I got from seeing your finishing work the first time.

Seriously clean builds there markm.
Gotta love that 1590BB.

Sorry I don't use batteries but how about an external batterypack?

Put four 9Vs wired in parallel into a 1590BB box with 4 to 8 DC jacks.
That will run several pedals for many hours. I'm guessing around 3600mAh of power.

Then build into smaller enclosures.
It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.

Any chance that I could see the tops of one or more of those pedals, markm?

Also, I presume you gschem/print/etch/drill/mount your own PCBs?

Beautiful craftsmanship there.  Hats off.

Thank you very much phaeton.

I stick mine in there the same way it appears Mark has - JB Weld a battery clip to the inside of the enclosure in a convenient place.

If you got this route, remember that the battery clip will flex outward with a battery in side it, and keep it clear of the sides.  Also, don't forget the "lip" of the lid.

And while figuring out where to put everything is easier with the battery in the clip, if you JB Weld that clip in there, you probably want to make sure that you don't accidently do the same to the battery.  You know, in case you ever want to change it.

ROFL! reminds me of the time some "snap in" power switches were a bit loose in their holes & I superglued them in place.... then found the glue (which has very low surface tension) had glued the inside of the switch solid, too  :icon_mad: :icon_mad: :icon_cry:

Genius! That's a really cool idea. I don't have anything to daisy chain my stuff up with (like a boss TU) so I'm still using batteries... but thats a really good alternative. So just to clarify, you just have DC jack sockets on your pedals and on the battery pack? Do you use a daisy chain lead to connect them all?

Btw, great builds markm! What is on the other sides of the screws to secure the pcb?
