I couldnt get the MPSA18 for the wah wah, can i use de KSP13?

Thanks ;D

Seljer

you can use prettymuch any type of NPN transistor for a wah wah.

The KSP13 is a darlington transistor (which is basically two NPNs together, having a gain hundreds of times more than regular ones), so I'm not sure. You can try it, if it doesn't work just try any general purpose NPN transistor (and watch the pinout.)

yeah, as long as the HFE is between 150 and 500, youll be ok.
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

the KPS13 has the HFE listed as over 5000 in the datasheet

id say, over the top...

but...not sure how it would sound  :D

A 24V supply is in order here.  ;D

If you can't get enough gain out of  the three previously mentioned trannies, here's a much-posted diagram for you:

To you, buffered bypass sucks tone.
To me, it sucks my balls.

Mpsa18 is a very high gain device. Try bc550c or 2n5089.

Ksp13 is a darlington transistor. It has a higher Vbe so some bias tweaking is needed.

Mpsa13 and ksp13 are the same coffee in different cups.

Just have in mind the double Vbe voltage drop for Darlingtons (compact or homemade..)

Or try a Sziklai pair...

"I don't mind  being taught all the time but I do mind a lot getting old" Antonis the Thessalonian..

Thanks Mac

I'll try this coffee in the Emerson Custom Paramount   ;D

If you are enthusiastic and/or serious, buy a small lot of 20 pcs BC550C.

Out of these, select those with highest beta.

Out of those, select the one(s) with the lowest noise and/or "best sound"; whichever is your priority atm.

BTW, a Si-Ge darlington has almost the same Vbe of a single silicon, 100-200mV higher.
