Has anyone created a pedal specifically for the harmonica?  Or at least something that works good with it?  Something to cut down on feedback and/or get the overdrive sound everyone's looking for?

Thanks,

Steve

Stay tuned. I'm working on a tube unit. The present version is amp top and uses an octal tube. I expect it'll be ready for you in February. I'll be working on a pedal version, but that may take longer.

This unit, tentatively named "The Peabody Device" adds a very nice asymmetrical distortion and is adjustable to only a slight bit of gain. The sound is much like the old Premier 90 reverbs but without the reverb. You'll notice a few guys out there using them like that. The problem with you harpos is that you all want grit and funk, but your mic's will squeel like a smoke alarm raping a disk brake if you get too much gain. So the answer's been to use funky, old, moderately incompetent amplifiers. This effect unit will let you use a more recent amp and still sound like its 1952.

Anyway, us guitar players like lots of gain and that's an important part of all of our dirt pedals. I'm not aware of anything being made now that I'd recommend. An EQ pedal for busting feedback, but that has its own issues.

Our harp player uses a stethoscope and hears himself as loud as he wants. His ancient Supro Trojan amp wails, and cuts through just fine. He's played around with my zoom a couple times... we found that chorus sounds pretty good, overdrive sounds great, but, the feedback is unbearable.

I could strangle the idiot that sold him a digital delay, though. If you had to pick one effect for harp, reverb would be it, followed by chorus.
I am not responsible for your imagination.

I had quite a lot of fun one day running a harmonica through a fuzz and wah pedal.
The mic I was using was half of a pair of old headphones with a jack housed in a film canister.

A local harp legend around here uses a Orange Squeezer comp and a Blue Magic pedal and it's a killer combo!  I am reasonably sure he uses a Fender Blues Junior for amplification.
