Hello everybody!
Yesterday i've bulit Obsidian-T stompbox and it works great, has a lots of gain and i like it for that.
But I dont like one thing. When i play riffs on lowest E and A strings it has too much bass. Especialy when i
palm mute strings.
All other things are sounding good. When i play one note at the time it provides great sound.
And when playing solos Obs-T is AWESOME!

My Obsidian-T has these mods: BC239c for transistors, switched 1M resistor for 990k, 100k re's for 110k.

So what to do to reduce that bass?
post here all of your mods for Obsidian-T!

thanx!

Joe's wonderful distortions usually have too much bass for my guitar (I think he uses a strat) so I typically reduce the by-pass caps.  Typical sizes are 22, 10, 4.7, 2.2uf, etc.  Each 1/2 or double raises or lowers the roll off point an an octive.  Try raising the first stage or the second stage or both to various values.  It is a way to custom tune the distortion to your rig.   Same for his other great pedals, Obsidian M, Blackfire, etc.  :icon_cool:

Select input cap value...selectively...smaller values let less bass in, bass could also be rolled off later in the circuit, by another cap seriesed in signal path.
"before and later" or Before, then later...you may want to parallel another cap to the input cap [possibly somewhere between switch and board connections...ez test] then try it on the output to decide whether you want to ihave the HP filter.
 If it's .1uf now, try a .047uf or even .022uf ?

Pete is right and I have started using both methods to get a fat lower mid-range, without a loose woofy bottom end.  With high input impedance, sometimes you may need somehting as small as 470pf.   :icon_cool:

First I want to say thanx to you guys for replying! You rock! :)
there's so much great guys here which are always ready to help DIY beginners and thats great!
I will soon try to switch that input capacitor C1=0.1uF with 0.047uF or 0.02uF.
Hehe, I cannot believe that im having both of them in my spare parts :) yeah!
I'll get back to you when I do the switch and when i hear results.
Until then, take care!

Let's say you have a .1 there.
Put a .1uf on the input wire to the switch = .05uf is what the input 'sees'.
Makes a ~good point to try smaller values, seriesing different caps..fairly non-intrusive, output wire too.

I'm back!
Hey i changed that capacitor as you suggested and now my Obsidian-T rocks like HELL! YEAH!
I'm very pleased with sound, its fu***ng METAL and i like it! \m/
Also i'm very happy to finally have my own distortion stompbox which
is screaming just like i want it!
Now i only have to put it into metal enclosure and use it !
Thanx guys!
Stay heavy \m/ !

HEy its me again.
Today I found metal enclosure to put Obsidian and just changed switch (first i was having usual switch and now i changed it to stomp switch).
And something changed...  hiss apeared. I dont know why, i checked everything and still haven't got a clue.
Pedal is working but im annoyed with that hiss. Even when guitar and pedal volumes muted there's hiss... :(
hmm...    :icon_frown:
