Thinking of doing a wah circuit with multiple switches, trimmers, etc along with inductor switching.  I have a Fulltone inductor and wandered which Dunlop fasel inductor (red, yellow) it is most closely related to such that I can purchase the other one to have contrasting tones.
builds completed: boutique fuzz, rangemaster, BSIAB2, PT-80, Tonepad wah, Ross Comp, Axis Fuzz, MOSFET boost, Thunderchief, Big Muff (triangle), Mr. EQ, Dr. Boogey,  Neovibe, Dist+, EA Tremelo, ADA Flanger, RM Octavia

that fulltone inductor is all over the map.

it sounds good, but hard to get some consistant inductors from that guy.

there is no inductor that sounds VERY close to it, not even the fasel reissues.

so if you want contrast, buy yourself a yellow fasel.

if you want something SOMEWHAT similar, try either Area51tubeaudiodesigns.com for Dan's inductor, or just mess around with the sweep caps.

yeah, it's weird.  I have a GCB-95 in which I made a new PCB for via Tonepad.  I put in a Fulltone pot and wah but I just have not been able to tweak it to satisfaction.  I don't know if it is the taper of the pot or a function of the inductor, etc., but I just can't get it to my liking even with cap replacements and resistor tweaks.  I'm going to get a BYOC PCB just to have every wah tweak available via a trimmer, etc. in hopes of finding the tone I am after.  The inductor switching will be a nice test to see if the inductor is the issue.

The wah is the most finicky of circuits to play with IMO.  Even more so than a fuzz.

well, i have to ask...what kind of wah tone are you looking for?

Yep, it can be. What makes it a pain is that the end result is the sum of the whole, so knowing exactly what to change to get the exact sound that you want can be difficult and a trial and error process!  :icon_cool:

Just a standard classic rock tone using mainly single coils and occassionally low output (8k) humbuckers ..... Hendrix, etc,,,,,,

have you tried Marossy's boomerang?

or tried a variation of the basic Clyde Mccoy circuit?

Any wah freak HAS to give the Boomerang a try!  :icon_wink:

Ill have my Boomerang finished today! Cant wait. Only Im using a red fasel. Ill post pics when finished.

does anyone have the measurements of the original el rad inductor? they said 500, but i highly doubt they were 500mH...
