Does anyone have one of these for sale?

I figure ebay would be your best source, but a bit of searching turned up nothing, at least not any current auctions. If you google mn3004 (maybe add "sale"), you'll see there have been ebay auctions for the 3004. Looks like your friend was a few months late... :).

May I ask what the chip is for?

i'll sweeten the pot by offering a paired MN3102/MN3208 in exchange.  8^)

I have no use for those, but I have all sorts of other random IC's. Seems my dad was a bit of a collector back in the days :icon_surprised:. Need any high speed opamps?

But not at diystompboxes.com...... regrettably

i'm so sorry.  i didn't realize that original Panasonic MN3208/MN3102 pairs were so cheap.

Senso, over at Vintage Planet has them. Not many, and not cheap, but he has them.

Do a search on the bay for MN3208. There's plenty depending on the time of the week. In the recent past there have been reports of 3005 labelled 3008's  but not the other way around and we're talking 3208's anyway.

Is that the 512 stage BBD chip? I think I have one left and yes I got them from Vintage Planet.

I used one for making a Boss BF2 (MN3007) into a High band flanger with a more jet sound.

Go all the way down the VP stocklist to the BBD section. There are listings for 1 new, and 4 pulled NOS 3004s. I guess he's out of them as a Korg part, but not as a BBD  ???

Yes, I was wondering why Zachary didn't reply to me?
maybe it wasn't clear. But first i'll try to test it by swapping it in my flanger. You can never tell with static sissies.

I have a "spare" (and I honestly can't believe I am using that word in the context of a BBD!) MN3009, I think.  But that's 256 stages instead of the requested 512.  It also  has 6 fewer pins and won't just plug in (same pinout as MN3007)

Does it need to be an MN3004 exactly or could anything with 512 stages do?
