Picked this up on ebay last week--a rather unusual Rat. Thought folks might like to see the insides too.

Now if I could just speak Russian I could figure out what the text on the PCB says....

I picked one of those up on eBay a few years ago too, I've been meaning to look inside it but I've had it mounted in a rack enclosure ever since I got it.
The foot control is a little interesting too I remember looking inside it one time, a few switches LED's and a midi style jack.

It looks like it's two Rats that you can switch on and off at will.  Pretty cool!

thumposaurus

That's exactly what it is, and all of the inputs/outputs are completely separate so you can either daisy chain them together or run one at the beginning of a chain and one at the end of the chain.

Cool, you can put in germanium diodes in one and LED's in the other one so you can switch to both! OD + Distortion...

It's no "unusual" RAT, it's the discontinued rack version of the RAT called R2DU (RAT2-double unit), simply 2 RAT in a 19" housing.
Steve Stevens had used it in his Rack in the eighties. The russian text on the board is kinda strange, never seen this before.

Check the ProCo site.  It used to have suggested setting for various sounds.   :icon_cool:

The Deucetone that is out now is pretty much the same thing in a pedal format except it has switchable clipping options.

I have one. The text is not Russian, it just uses Cyrrillic letters. It says: "RockĀ“n rollers of the world unite"   8)

I remember finding one of those messages in a Brat. Can't remember what it was though.

I'm surprised it hasn't become a "collect 'em all" crazyness.

I think Dano can get at least 20 dip switches into this one. :D

Hi, I was wondering if anybody can post a photo of the inside of the switch box. I just bought one and it will not switch to b mode only. I have the wiring diagram but it does not show the extra lugs on the Made in Mexico foot switches. I can post a photo of mine. Two of the white wires from one of the switches have been cut. I for the life Of me can't make heads or tails of where they need to go. The switch box has been tampered with and I'd like to put it back stock. It will do A alone and A & B. I can also just plug into the B side but I can only activate it with the A switch. Hhhhmmm?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Paul.

My friend has one of these weird things, but he lives far far away.

Try pm-ing Dano... or emailing from his website (beavis audio).

Hi Tom, thanks for the advice. I did email Dano. Have not heard back from him yet. I'd like a photo of the switch boxes' guts, kind of like what I took today of mine.

Notice the white wires that are unhooked. I actually cut the short one(connecting the Resistor - led) loose from the  5 pin socket's #1 tab. The other two are connected to the B switch.

The wiring diagram shows only DPDT switches with 4 lugs. These here have 6 each and all are being used.
