question on resistors

please pardon me for my noob question

Is 2.4k = 2.4kohms?
is 2k4 -2.4k?

I got confuse over this...lol. Thanks a lot in advance for your help :)

correct, i think the main reason for having the k in place of a . is because a . can be lost easily on small components

can you see the difference?

some say 2400ohms

Yes, and on schematics the     can sometimes get lost
