One question, Is there any difference between a regular jack and this kinda jack? Are these kinda jack shielded?

I think Aron has 'em here in the store too.
Why not support the fella that keeps this fine place running?  :)

Good point - good prices - and serious speedy delivery as well! Although I did get my jacks from allelectronics.com before I joined the forum here...it's just an option; they have the occasional large-bag-of-something-for-a-great-price sale.

Not much difference, they have the benefit of being isolated from the chassis you mount them in if you wish.  This can be a real benefit for ground routing as compared to a Switchcraft standard jack, which are very hard to isolate.  They aren't really shielded, but are chassis mount so you will most often have them shielded by the chassis.  The main difference is that they look WAY WAY COOL!!!

There are basically two types available, and they look almost identical; the Cliff jacks from England with Bakelite bodies and threaded brass inserts, these are very rugged and will last a long time.  They are also more expensive.  You can get identical looking jacks manufactured by Rean, but they are made of cheaper plastic and don't have threaded inserts.  These are quite a bit more fragile and less expensive.

I have been using these: http://www.neutrik.com/content/products/detail.aspx?id=210_919947078&catId=CatMSDE_audio which I get from mouser.com - nice chrome ferrule nut, tight and solid contacts. It is on the Neutrik website but if you pull up the datasheet, it also mentions Rean. No matter - they're still solid, much better than the one I fished out of an Ampeg B4R amp.

Cheap!  I think you need to buy the nuts seperately (im sure you knew that!)

...That is if you like to shop mouser.  I love the project manager there.  Dont get me wrong Ive bough stomps and various items from Aron and was very happy!

Thanks Guys ,
I ended up buying the enclosed jack from samllbear. What is the difference between Enclosed jacks and normal jacks?
I assume there is no difference, but why enclosed?
