So I just got a full copy of Cadence Orcad installed and I plan on doing a new layout for the Crank. No offense to anybody but every layout I've seen for this board has left a lot to be desired. I like to avoid jumpers at all costs, but it looks like there might be a few. Anywho, I'll keep everyone up to date and post a PDF when I'm done. I hope somebody besides me gets some use out of this.

If anybody needs a copy of Orcad or Altium, give me a PM :).

Yeah, I'd go ahead and do it up. I'm sure someone will want to use it.
I have been honing my PCB skills on expressPCB.
Still need to figure out how to route ICs easier. Always seems like such a tangled web!

Just a suggestion- make it small! The layout that I have is rather large, and I haven't built it because of that. I even have all of the parts. I wait patiently!

I happen to know Paul Marossy did a pcb layout ; ask him !!

His is the offending PCB that is so large. I've used his layouts before and had success with them, but some of the practices used on his Crank layout I tend to avoid. He uses really long jumpers and there is no ground around the circuit (which isn't the biggest deal but I prefer a ground plane). Either way I'm really rusty myself and need the practice, so I'll try to get cracking on the board.

Sidenote: I don't know what I was thinking using Orcad. It has a horrible, clunky interface and really just needs to be coaxed and tricked into working. I'm using Altium now like I should have in the first place (I really should listen to my dad :D). My offer still stands though, if anybody needs a copy of Orcad or Altium send a PM my way.
