Does anybody have any sort of idea what values of resistance the varistor went through in its swing?

That is, what were the maximum, minimum, and average values of resistance during the vibrato cycle?

Thanks,

Have you checked the Magnatone pages?  http://www.vibroworld.com/magnatone/archive.html they have an article about the varistors IIRC.

zachomega

I have been on that page numerous times, but it is laid out kind of badly.  I didn't see anything that mentioned the values of resistance in any finite way.

The simple answer is for you to buy my Magnatone stereo vibrato tone cabinet off me and get me some space in my bedroom.   ;)

zachomega

haha...I wish I could afford it.  At this point I'm down to trading for what I need/want.

No kidding...That thing does look like a piece of furniture...Does it weigh as much as I think it might?

The second one down is mine.

Not really that heavy.  A VT-22 would make this feel like balsa wood.  It is carryable by one person without difficulty.  Stereo too.

I sold a VT22 last year.  Thing was 100 pounds shipped.  Those things are really heavy.  I think Ampeg used to have an add titled something like 114 pounds of devotion...I guess that is what they weighed new with all of the features.
