Why would a Danelectro French Toast's switch pop when you release it?

I thought I'd see if anyone here knows why this may be, the electronic switching works fine and isn't that loud, it switches when you press the stomp switch down, but when you let up on the switch, there's a pop that is really loud.  Like F-up your speakers loud.  Its such a cheap pedal doesn't make sense to invest a bunch of time debugging it when I don't have any clue where to start, so I thought I'd ask if anyone here had a similar experience and fixed it, before we give up on it. 

Thanks a lot, it belongs to a friend that I play with that really knows how to use it, it would be fun to get it going again.

I have one, & it doesn't make that noise at all.

Sorry, no suggestions as to what to look to fix it either.
