OT: Controlling WH-1 Whammy Via Midi?

Hey guys...

I've recently moved to a rack setup and so only have a footcontoller on the ground in front of me now, except, however for my old WH-1 Whammy.

The first model doesn't have midi control and I don't want to trade the sound of the WH-1 for the midi control function of the WH-4 and was wondering if there was any way around this?

I've read somewhere about being able to swap chips between the units or something which emulates steve Vai's Rack of Wham...

Any ideas?
