My old HP IIP (probably 10 years old minimum) gave out the other day with an "Error 12" message.  I ordered a replacement toner darkness board from www.fixyourownprinter.com.  Upon it's arrival I opened up my printer and saw the old board was exactly the same as the new one, with the exception of one 10uF capacitor.  Knowing that electros age considerably, this seemed to be the logical fix.  And indeed, it worked.  Now it works perfectly with just one tiny part.

Anyways I now have an extra board I bought for 50 bucks (50 bucks for one electro cap.  Beat that!) laying around.  Hopefully I can return it.

Anyways, if you get your hands on an HP IIP or IIP Plus or IIIp with an error message, you have a VERY HIGH chance of fixing it with just that one cap (I've read that if you get that error it's most always that  board).

Just thought I'd let you guys know.  You can probably snag one for pretty cheap if it gets that error.

While you have the hood up..... is there any way to do an "extra thick" toner mod??

should really get me an old laser printer too.

Got a inktjet HP picture printer for free... I should have been happy, but  :(
I don't know, but I almost tend to dump my HP printer when the catridges run out nowadays,
printer cost 75EUR, black cartridge 27EUR or something, color cartridge 35 EUR

Lol! Some people have been making some good cracks recently  :icon_lol:

I wonder if on DIY Auto sites people enquire about brake mods. :icon_lol:
They're the ones that stay at 1 post.

Actually, there's a little slider that adjusts it.  Maybe you could.   :icon_twisted:

I wouldn't need it though, this thing puts out a HUGE amount of toner when you need it to be.  Move the slider too far and when you iron it on the toner melts out and runs a bit.
