hey guys,
i've searched around for a bit of info on using waterslide decals, and just have one question left- can you see the edges of the decal if you use the softener that smallbear sells?  i want to start using them, but if there are blatant edges it will drive me nuts!

I need to find a way to make this an FAQ.

The decal softener is compatible with the laser decal stock. With that material, it does a very good job of melting the edge of the decal film into a baked enamel surface. Sorry, it does not work with the inkjet stock; you must have acces to a color laser printer.

gotcha.  thanks for clearing that up steve!

What is the main ingredient in the softener? I need to purchase some here in Australia but have a feeling it's going to be hard to find, so if I can tell shop-people what's in it, they might be able to help me

I believe most softeners use acetic acid....vinegar. Some have used that with success :hint hint:  ;)

If you spray light coats of clear and wet-sand between coats, you can blend the edges of the decal into the clear and end up with a painted on look from the decal.
That's how I did this one;

One question, Are we supposed to put some thing between water slide and the box? I guess not.

But when I tried on my pedal it didnt stick to it perfectly. there were like air  in between the slide and the box.

Is there any secret?

I always wet the surface of the enclosure where the decals is going to be placed.
It allows the decal to be positioned easily and helps to eliminate air which is what it seems ended up under your Izzy.

You need to allow it time to air dry too before putting any type of finish on top of them.  It also helps to cut the labels with rounded edges rather than square corners.

May be I rubbed too much after I sticked that decal into the box.

Or may be because I used water color plastic tapes instead of enamel spray. :-X
