I did some poking, and I think they're about the right sort of thing, but I wanted to check.

AC176's would work fine too for an NPN alternative, right?

 Do it. It'll work. I did mine with OC140, works great.

The set Small Bear sent me for the Fuzz Face were 2N1304, they'll do the job nicely.
