Anyone experienced a good choice for a pedal that comes after a FF to smooth it up?
Some kind of OD.

I use a Thunder Chief or a Plexizer after a FF using a strat or a Gibson T-top-PAF in the bridge position. This is kind of an Eric Johnson (Venus Island) sound.

The FF really fattens up the sound for a single-core pickup and I use that in situations where I would normally use a humbucker, running with the fuzz set to 9-11 O'Clock and volume just slightly higher than unity gain.

Hi
Quotesmooth it up?
Is this a silicon FF?  Germanium FFs should be quite smooth, at least until the fuzz control goes past 2 o'clock.
In any case, harshness is easily controlled with a small cap to bypass the 330/470/1k resistor feeding the collector of Q2.
For 330 ohms, try 0.068uF.
For 470 ohms, try 0.047uF.
Smaller caps let more highs through, while larger cut highs.  (the values above give fc=7kHz).

If in doubt, check out the Axis Face.

Any OD pedal after it will smooth it out. Some with differing degrees of smoothness, depending on the setting of the pedals. I use a FD2 or my DIY screamer with Grandlaff mods, or  a Marshall Shredmaster pedal after my DIY booteek fuzz. I have each of these pedals set with varying degrees of gain & tone, so each one will produce a slightly different effect when used in conjuction wih the fuzz. Sometimes, I will use the fuzz & 2 of the overdrives with no problems. None of the OD pedals are set for heavy distortion, which makes stacking them workable.
