All right....usually I don't get this excited, but this contraption is most excellent. It fills the spot for 100 percent high gain compressed fuzz. Responsive to picking, too. I didn't put the psycho boost in front of it, but built the rest of the circuit on the tonepad layout. I also added a "shaved" switch. It takes the 560pfs in or out of the circuit. Seriously, this thing is a scorcher. Check it out!   http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=51690.0

So if you did not do the "Rocket Boost" drop-in then isn't your circuit just a Big Muff with a modified tone stack?

Note the lack of emittor resistors so it's not quite just a Big muff with a modified tonestack.

Soundclips?  :-D

I might actually try to do that with this one. It certainly deserves it, just not my terrible playing. I'll see what I can do.

Well the super muff is, after all, a modified big muff. But it's more than just tone stack changes. Several parts value changes and also I used the three resistors in series in the clipping sections. Check the link above!!!!

Upon further testing I think some kinks in the tonestack need to be worked out. I am pretty sure I have it wired up right but the pots interact in a strange way. I am still happy though, because it sounds killer!

Looks like I was mistaken on the tone control. I was getting little to no output in the middle of the tone pot. Turns out that the emitter off of q4 needs to be adjusted with a trimpot, which is actually in the notes from the original thread. I hooked up a 5k pot I had lying around and pretty much anything under 2k wasn't happening. I ended up throwing a 3k in there but this really takes away from the pick sensitivity. I am going to order a 2k trimmer and run it in series with a 1k resistor, I should hopefully be able to find the sweet spot where the tone control will work and still get the picking sensitivity going on. If you switch between higher and low output pickups it might be worthwhile to mount a pot.

I haven't put the mids pot back in to see how this will affect the tone control yet.

Basically I did the jack orman mid control from above, but with a .05 going out the middle lug of the tone and a .003 going into it. I also used a 5k pot is parallel with a 10k resistor for the last transistor emitter. This allowed me to use single coil, p90s or hb and get gated or straight on sounds all through the tone rotation. the switch is a must also. Can't wait to get it boxed up and in front of the stack. Stoner rock galore!

Yeah, the emmiter trimer is an essential in this build, man.  i've made a soundclip of my personal super-muff, if someone wants to host it for me; i'll share the ear candy with youse guys.

actually, now that i think about it:  you could have a 3-band tone control, youse guys.  Just put those 2 tone stack variations together, you know?

By the way, the AMZ-ish tone stack was suposed to be:  25K pot with a 10K resistor.  dern, man!!!!!!  :'(  if i actually had insurance, maybe i could get a new pair of contacts, man.  but, that's a descussion for another government debate  :icon_mrgreen:
