Mornin,

Have a quick noob question pertaining to these tranny's.  On a layout for the T0-18 style case, is the tab the collector or emitter?  I tried looking up datasheets for it, but all I can find are T0-92 style cases.

Thanks for any help,

Brian

Don't think I've ever seen a metal-can version of the 5088 but, hell, I've never seen a million dollars either!  :icon_lol:
Anyway, this here may help ya;

Mark,

Thanks!  I remembered seeing that page somewhere, but couldn't find it again.  I'm not even sure if they make a 5088 in a can style, but that's how it was depicted in the layout I'm using.

Hence the original question.  ;D
Hopefully I'll have my first working box shortly!

Oh, if you ever do see that million dollars....take a picture of it....doubt I'll ever see it either! lol

Thanks,
Brian

The 2N5088 is not made in the TO-18 style that I know of.

The tab on metal top hats is the emitter.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

I think the can-type was used by Dragonfly because it's what he had for a pic for doing the layout.
I didn't think 5088's were "old" enough to be in a can.
