and my contnuity tester beeps when i put the leads on the empty battery clip, it means what ?

That means you have a short somewhere between power and ground. You should check for extra solder joints or other places they could connect.

 Reverse the order, postpone the second task...
  Test for non-continuity between V+/V-, don't connect PS...eliminate shorts before supplying power.

i got it, took me about 2 hours to find a little piece of solder has bridged 2 strips
