Fender Deluxe / Super / Pro / Twin Reverb amp.
What the heck a DR is a great medium for distortions, and like...a completely different type of horse than the Twin.
Twins are known for being unfriendly towards certain distortion type sounds and circuits, but the Deluxe Reverb is known for being pretty accomodating to Distortions is my understanding and exp.

Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Hello Hello--
I think it has something to do with those 68k input resistors that come off of both input jacks and go to the first-stage pre-amp tubes [haven't worked on one for awhile and I don't have a schematic handy...]
This is common to all [I think] black and silver face Fenders of  those eras.  The tweed era is different, though.  Fuzz Faces and Tonebenders never were a good match for the Fender black and silver face circuits.
Brian.

I own a BF Twin and BF DR and don't have any issues with Overdrives.....But I play Country so most of my playing involves only slight breakup.

Hello Hello--
I am only referring to the original  British Fuzz Face / Tonebender / Treble booster [and the other many spin-offs] circuits.   Many other boosters [Tubescreamer, DOD, etc....]  can sound good through these amps.

FF and other high gain distortions sound great through my BF Twin even with tons of gain... especially the fuzz face. Anytime we have musicians in the audience I get compliments about my fuzz sound.

Hello Hello--
Chris-- Is it a stock FF circuit and are you using it  along with other pedals [at the same time]??  What year is your Twin?   People do mods to the front end of their Fender  amps to accomodate the FF, too.
Brian.

The twin is a 65 ri.

My FF has the fuller style contour control which I use to limit the Q2C voltage down below 4v to get a little bit of extra edge... with Q2C at 4.5-5v the FF has too much bottom with my setup... perhaps that's why it works for me. With the FF I really dig the mids/contour control... I like to use larger than 1k for the pot so that I can take it all the way from warm and full to completely mis-biased. 5k is too small and 10k is too large... I like to use a 10k and do this: turn i the pot all the way up and then trim the Q2 collector to 1.6v... that puts the 4.5v spot at about 9oclock on the dial when it's all boxed up. Yum... a very wide range of very cool sounds.

Hello Hello--
O.k., it's a reissue....don't know what they are doing with the pre-amp section of that amp.  Also, a stock 2.2 input cap on a FF is usually a little "woofy"  for anything but a Strat through a Marshall.  If it's working for you that's great!
Have you tried any of the Super Fuzz circuits with your Twin??   Those wok REALLY well with American amps if you want  more fuzz......
Brian.

I build anything and everything so I'll definitely do a Super Fuzz... is that related to the maestro?... the 'satisfaction' tone??

Aside from loving my FF with the twin... It's unusable with my blues deluxe.... like I said before, I believe it's because the deluxe breaks up so low... the headroom between these amps puts them in two different worlds to my ears.

Have fun!

I would first measure and make sure there's no DC at the output of the box. Simply set the meter on DC and put a probe on the tip and the other on ground of your cord coming out of the pedal. Make sure the pedal is on.

If you have DC, fix that first. Probably a leaky output capacitor or????

If there's little to no DC, then turn the output of the pedal down. If the gating sound goes away, then you are probably experiencing grid blocking on your tube amp.
