I am guessing by the way this thread died that either

1. There is no easy way to replace the obsolete signal chip

or

2. Its not that great anyway and there are better & easier ways to build the LFO.

I am guessing #1.  Most of Mayer's circuits sound really good.

I don't think the problem is the with the circuit itself as it looks good and it enjoys a good reputation. The problem is that circuit, remember that schematic is old at this point, has a strong reliance on a proprietary IC. Using the 8038 was a real easy out to having to design a complex oscillator circuit. With the original IC source gone adaption has to occur. It would be interesting to see what the new version is using. My guess is that they switched over to the ICL version or else they switched ICs completely as I doubt Roger designed from scratch a new oscillator.

thats the one.  i don't know how i missed that :icon_question:.  i thought i checked that site.  i ordered the NTE equivalent locally, we'll see if that one works out or not.
