Ok, so i just finished building the Mod Wah from ggg. So what inductor should i use? I mean, is there a special inductors for wahwah. I put this inductor:

..and nothing, the sound is clean at all!
Then i use this inductor:

...and the Same!

So what should i do? What is the right type of inductor?

Thank you very much!

Paul Marossy

Both of those like like small value inductors. Did you use 500 millihenry inductors?

rasco22862

yes, i did
If you say that with these inductor shoulld work, i should look problems in the circuit, irght?

Those inductors, the ones in the pictures, could not possibly work.

You will need a much larger inductance.

The correct inductor is a very specialized item and costs around $20 or more.
They are usually around 500 mh
Look at smallbear electronics, or Banzai effects if you are in Europe.

yeah man, you wont see them in any wahs..
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

Also, Aron sells Fasel inductors in the DIYstompbox store.  I both both and each is very nice, yet different.

Has anyone had good results with small audio transformers using, say the secondary of a mic tranny or some such?'

I havn't done it, but others have had some success. Unless you have a multimeter that can measure inductance, it's going to take a lot of experimenting!!

But i´m in Argentine, where i can get an inductor? Hoy i should ask for it?

Thanks

May I say to all here, I just finished my tonepad wah, and I am very happy with the sound. I now officially have a wah pedal! Can you imagine, thebattleofmidway, that I once didn't have one? :icon_eek:

Anyway, rasco:
Can you get one of these:

(The red & white one in the middle).
If so, get one.

If you want a good one, and you can order online, get this one:

1)Those i saw them in transformers right?

2)So, the inductors of the first images i posted, it´s sure that don´t work?
Thanks

RaceDriver205

2) It is absolutely certain the ones in the first post wont work.
1) Yes, those are transformers. You use either the primary side or secondary side of the transformer (someone tell me which) as your inductor. It gives you close to the correct inductance.

1)So how i should ask for them, i mean, what is the right description for that type of inductor??
2)Can i use the inductor of any transformer???

Thanks

In this web http://www.pisotones.com/Tri-Wah/Wah.htm , there is a wah wah working with the "donut"inductor
Is that possible?

that inductor seems to have many more windings (more loops of wire = higher inductance)

1.The donut one is known as a toroidal inductor, but there are many many factores that determine the total inductance (cross section of the winding, number of windings, length of the windings, type of material its wound around, etc....)
2. Nope, windings on transformers can have much more or much less inductance, as well as some transformers being way to big to put into a pedal too.
The article on wahs on geofex mentions using the primary winding of a small 1k:8ohm audio transformer (something like the one in the picture posted above)

But it is possible to get the wah working with that type of donut inductor??? That is what im was asking in the up

if you can find one with the right inductance, or are brave enough to attempt rewinding it, it should be possible

though some more equipment may be required
(I guess the easiest way would be to get a multimeter that can measure inductance, measure the current inductance, count the number of turns on wire there now, then figure out how many you need to get to around 500 millihenries)

rasco22862

but i can buy a toroidal inductor of 500 mH,, should i buy it?
