but i can buy a toroidal inductor of 500 mH,, should i buy it?
if you can find it

though if you can only find a smaller value (say 100mH) you can wire them up in series for the inductance to add up (five 100mH inductors in series = 500mH, if you have the space)

edit: ah, you can buy, yeah, then buy it if you can't find anything else
edit2: also, make sure they mean millihenries, not microhenries (which is usually designated as uH but sometimes they use mH anyway)

Quote1)So how i should ask for them, i mean, what is the right description for that type of inductor??
2)Can i use the inductor of any transformer???

If such a thing exists, sure. I doubt it does, I reckon its 500uH.
If you can't get any audio transformers like the one I showed (and they're vrey common), than thats all I can help.

red fasels are toroidal.

and theyre roughly 16 dollars.

i think youre making things difficult, more than they should be...
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

rasco22862

Ok, sory and thanks for the replies, i mean it...

So what are you saying is that they sold me a 500 (micro henries) inductor and not a 500 (milihenries) inductor , right?

Ok, i just got one of these from a 9VDC transformer. So what should i do

Hola rasco, yo tmb soy de argentina!

But im going to talk in english. I have looked a lot for inductors here in Argentina. But had no succesful results. With a donut it will work, the problem is that here you never now which is the Al(was it al, the coefficient to help you calculate amount of turns?) of an inductor. I bought an inductor and with RG's help (much appreciated, as usual :D) we( ehm,. he :P) calculated amount of turns, layers and thickness of the wire to use. It's not difficult at all, and you will get great results, just PM for more details.

BTW, where can you buy that 500mh toroid you said?

Q groso che"!!!! (to QSQCaito)

Can i replace the MPSA18 for the BC184A?, i mean the EBC are the same right? (i couldn found the datasheet)

I couldnt make it work with the donut inductor.

rasco22862

OK, im sill stucked with this project

1)what materials do i need to wind my own wah wah inductor? I  mean what gauge of coil, etc

2)I have a doubt with the meausures, just tell me what option is right:

  a)uH(Microhenries)        mH(Millihenries)
  b)uH(Millihenries)          mH(Microhenries)

3)....and with this, is 500 mH or 00 uH??

QSQCaito

Yes. If it's 500mh it doesn't matter if it's toroidal or not. But it has to be around 500mh. If you can get one, buy it. If it still doesn't work, you've probably done something wrong in the circuit.

Quotesory its:
3)500 uH or 500 mH

I had a little trouble following all that, but if the one you are trying to use is 300uH (microhenries), that will never work in a wah pedal. You need 300-500mH (millihenries) to make it a resonant circuit. It would be a whole lot easier to just buy one.  :icon_wink:

ok, i get the wire from a transformer, is very thiny, but accidently i cut some, i mean can i wind my inductor with pieces of wire connected with knots

Hi, i found a rechargable flashlight, and i noticed that has an inductor and an iron that moves through the inductor to recharge the flashlight. Is it possible to use this inductor as a wah wah inductor??

Thanks

Am I missing something here?  Is this thread a joke of some sort?  You just buy yourself a $15 from Aron, Smallbear, or any other number of vendors...END OF STORY.
Or why don't you try using the rechargeable flashlight and let us know how your wah turns out...

rasco22862

if you read all the topic , you will notice that im from argentina, and is not easy getting those inductors. And i cant just afford the inductor and the international shipping, im experimenting. I´m sory, i just dont go to the easy solution, i was just asking what sort of things could replace the wah wah inductor, because i dont know well the inductors , transformers and those kind of things. May be the flashlight dont work, bnut may be YES. Sory for the disturbs men. (And for my english)

Go back about ten replies & click on the link that TELEFUNKEN posted & you will learn just about all you need to know about wah wah's. If you can't get the correct inductor R.G. even tells you how to make a wah wah without an inductor.

I'm aware of the problems with finding some parts in Argentina; I've been there and met some people in the DIY community. Still, you should be able to manage this. My minimum charge to ship a small bag (up to four ounces) is $6.25. The transformer you want is my SKU 2610B, $2.25. IT DOES WORK.

So save up U.S. $8.50 and find someone who has a PayPal account. Place your order on-line and have them pay me by PayPal. I will send your item like a letter so that there's no tax. I do this all the time. Alternatively, one of the shops on Calle Uruguay in B.A. probably has a similar part. You can get the specs from Mouser.com, part number 42TM013.

Good Luck!
