I built the Jordan Bosstone and want to use it as my main pedal, but it creates a lot of hum. Im using british-style guitar jacks, and I have it built in a die-cast enclosure but it still hums. Would you recommend using wire with a braided jacket over it so it could be isolation grounded or is there another way that would quiet the hum that I can try? :icon_question:

Hum is almost always a symptom of incomplete or inaccurate signal grounding.

Check ground continuity to **every** point on the schematic that shows ground, including especially the input and output jacks, the chassis, and the DC power input jack as well as the circuit board.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Some of those british-style jacks will have a spot of metal to ground against the enclosure. Others will keep you isolated. If you were to put a circle of wire between the jack and enclosure, then connect that wire to your circuit ground, maybe that would help?

Hi
IF it is comming in via the power supply, put a 100 ohm resistor in-line with the supply, then a 470uF cap to ground, then follow with the usual circuit.  That gets rid of most low-freqenecy supply line noise.
