I don't know of any more sound samples. The one at ampage gives a pretty good idea what the overdriver sounds like at maximum gain, it's a big fat silicon fuzz sound. If you turn the gain down though it makes a really good booster. The problem is it's quite hard to get meaningful samples of boosters because a lot of the sound depends on what sort of amp you're using and how the amp is set.

Thanks. I think I´m going to make one as soon as I get the money for it.

It's a great pedal, well worth building. If I can get hold of a microphone I'll try and do some soundclips.

Best sound samples I've ever heard for the Colorsound OD was by some guy called Jeff Beck. The sampler disk was called "Wired." He demonstrates it with a variety of guitars and a wide range of techniques.

Thanks. Jeff Beck is the reason for my intress on this circuit. I just would like to hear also somebody else than Jeff Beck play playing with this effect for a good reference whats coming from Jeff's fingertips and what is coming from the gear.

I think it's mostly his fingertips. I think he could play through one of those plastic toy guitars at the toy store and he would still sound good.

Jeff plays and demos his rig, including the Colorsound Overdriver, pre Blow-by-Blow:

Thanks for that.  It's like what a NIgel Tufnel interview would be like, but with about 40 more IQ points! :icon_lol:

One thing that is VERY unambiguously demonstrated about 10 secondsfrom the end of this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4SnWy3JK9c&mode=related&search=) is how he achieves some of those ring modulator type tones.  Turns out they are not pedal-based AT ALL, but rather are false harmonics achieved on the first couple of frets of the lower strings (as opposed to the "standard" places like the 5th, 7th, and 12th frets).  I gather the sideband products are a result of the freely-vibrating string wanting to do too many incompatible things at once.  That, and the tone of a dimed amp.

I feel a bit out of my league following Jeff Beck but here's a quick demo of my Overdriver.

It's just Strat > Overdriver > Fender Twin.
The first parts are with the Overdriver on full gain and then there's a section with the pedal being used as a cleanish treble booster.

If anyone's interested the clip's recorded with a little mic that I pulled out of a broken cordless phone base unit.
