First off, I've learned a LOT just lurking here.  So I figure I should start posting now that I've started building pedals from the layout galleries.  I'll just use my Ruby project as an intro photo.  I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.  I had some leftover white tolex from a failed rehousing of an old Traynor head, and I found some 1/2 inch MDF in the cull bin at Home Depot for $1, so why not?

It's not perfect, by ANY means.  But I'm exactly using pro quality tools.  I'll get some gut shots soon.  I thought I had some already, but no.  I used Dragonfly's vero layout.  Easy and fun build!  There's hole drilled in the top of the chassis and a battery clamp mounted on the outside so you don't have to remove any screws to change batteries.  I put an on/off switch on the front so I don't have to remember to unplug the instrument cable to turn it off.  And a LED on indicator just because it looks cool.

I started building pedals because I quit smoking, and I felt like I should have something new to learn to occupy my mind/keep my hands busy.  It's working to the point where I think I'm more addicted to building than I was to smoking.  And building pedals is actually cheaper than cigarettes.  Other builds I've done are the '77 DOD 250 OD and Dragonfly's Mezcal Fuzz.  I'm mostly an overdrive/distortion/boost freak, and I'm REALLY impressed with that version of the 250 OD.

I'll put pics of those two up in the picture thread later tonight.  I just wanted to say hi and thanks for all the help!

You know, I didn't even THINK of using copperclad on the face!  That's a killer idea.  It's just Rustoleum copper spraypaint.

It's is pretty adorable.  It's got a definite "purse" vibe going on.  Looks absolutely hilarious sitting on top of a 4x12.

Wait...  There's an idea... make some purses that look like amps.  The newest wave of suburban heavy metal teengirls will go MAD for em!

Oh my... that is the cutest and coolest ruby I have ever seen. I'm a sucka for white tolex too.
