2 effects in one box - grounded board inputs in bypass - why?

hey guys

i am sticking two effects in one box

i originally drew up a wiring diagram using the standard 3PDT wiring with LED with the output from one 3PDT jumping to the second 3PDT.

i just checked the GGG site and they have it wired up differently - with the inputs to the boards to ground when bypassed.

http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/two_in_one_wiring.pdf

i was wondering if there was any technical reason for bypassed inputs to ground?

Might prevent oscillation in high gainers. Prevents bleedthrough. Nothing is happening in the effect's signal path when bypassed.

the only reason i can think of - would be to stop some sort of signal build up in the pedal offloading when switched to..

and if there was no input signal then the circuit would have to be generating its own sound.. cant say ive ever built a pedal that produced an output without an input..

i should have said that i never built a pedal that created an output signal whilst the intended input signal was unplugged :D
