  Youch...
  Pretty awesome !
Worth the price of admission just to find out !
Turned into a schematic'd be nice...I suppose I'm talking low tech for a mic geek, but schematics make sense, I only have an idea how a Tube Mic might work.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

if you want to know how a (less simple) tube mic works you can find the Solidtube schematic on the AKG website.

Now who told me these russian minitubes aren't of any use at all?
Those are high frequency pentodes, no?

HAHA!  Yes, he was MOST MOST certainly kidding... he is the submini guru.

As for the 1Sh18p... it is a directly heated submini pentode.  The "sh" is a translation of the cyrillic, but you can use a "j" instead or "zh", and that "p" is actually a "b", so maybe a search for a"1j18b" would help out more:   Directly heated tubes can be incredibly linear.  That is an output pentode, but i think you could get some good preamp use out of it if you strapped it as a triode.  i would stay away from low level use like an input stage--since it was designed for output, they PROBABLY didn't put much thought into preventing microphonics.
